Microsoft® FrontPage
This page describes Microsoft's FrontPage, a tool for creating web pages and managing web servers.
The GRB Network uses Microsoft FrontPage to manage our web servers. All web accounts are automatically setup to use FrontPage. Although you are not required to use this utility, you will find that using FrontPage is much easier than creating your web pages in an editor, uploading them using an FTP program and then testing them with a browser.
Easily create great-looking Web sites. Easy-to-use, leading edge features let you create professional Web sites without programming. Create WYSIWYG frames pages and draw HTML tables in the WYSIWYG FrontPage Editor. Add sophisticated, interactive functionality using FrontPage components-there's no need to write code.
Innovative imaging tools and intelligent design assistance make it easier than ever to build great-looking Web sites. Add rich, dynamic graphics to your sites using Microsoft Image Composer, Microsoft GIF Animator, and more than 2,000 image samples.
With FrontPage 98, easily include powerful Web functionality in your sites by adding Java applets, ActiveX controls, and browser plug-ins. Support for databases and Active Server Pages allows you to include database content in your Web pages easily and lets users perform dynamic database queries on your site over the Web, giving them direct access to the information they need.
WYSIWYG tables: Draw and erase tables with the same ease that you use a pencil and paper. Easily insert rows and columns, and then select the borders of table cells and drag them to the positions you want.
Wizards: Make creating new pages or entire Web sites easy. Just answer a few questions, and wizards will do the rest for you.
Templates: Generate Web sites or pages from predefined formats. Simply replace the generated content with your own words, images, and ideas.
FrontPage components and Save to E-mail: Eliminate the need to write your own programs by providing drop-in commands for adding sophisticated, interactive functionality to your Web sites. Submit form results over the Web to an e-mail address or file of your choice, or easily add full-text searching capabilities to your Web sites.
Navigation bars: Automatically generate navigation bars on any Web page in the FrontPage Editor.
Themes and Themes View: Give your entire site a high-quality, consistent look. Choose from more than 50 professionally designed thematic templates that include backgrounds, fonts, page headers, and navigation buttons, or assign a Theme to any individual Web page to vary only that page's look.
Graphical bullets: Easily specify custom images to use in place of the bullets normally found on Web pages. Either apply a Theme to a page to add its matching graphical buttons, or choose any image to be used as the new bullet.
Banner Ad Manager and Dynamic HTML support: Select from several easy options that handle rotating information in your Web site, or easily add dynamic Web content such as text that "flies" onto your page from off-screen!
Java applet, ActiveX controls, and browser plug-in support: Include powerful Web functionality in an intuitive WYSIWYG environment.

Plus, flexible collaboration features such as Tasks lists and remote and/or local authoring let you work with others to create and manage your Web site.
Navigation View: Automatically generate your navigational links in this printable view by using it to build your Web site's key navigational structureensuring easy site-wide navigation and intuitive site organization.
Folders View: View a directory level representation of your Web site and a sortable properties list for each folder or file, making it easy to manage your Web site content more effectively.
Hyperlinks View: Graphically display all hyperlinks between pages, with arrows indicating the direction of each link. Position your cursor over any icon in the view to call up its related attributes.
All Files View: Quickly find all assets and organize them by attribute with this centralized viewing feature.
Hyperlink Status View: Check the status of and immediately fix your Web site's internal and external hyperlinks using this centralized view.
Automatic hyperlink updates: Let FrontPage 2002 automatically update any hyperlinks when you rename assets or drag and drop files to other folders in your Web site.
Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) support: Define complex styles and create, dramatic page layout settings with word-processor-like control over HTML text.
Remote and collaborative authoring and editing: Allow multiple authors to collaborate on Web sites hosted on remote or local servers.
